Euro Style False Tail and bulk hair for Tail make your own Extensions
Euro Style Tail Extensions
Euro style extensions are a traditional method used in Australian showing during the 1970s and 1980s, before modern false tails became common. Inspired by human hair extension techniques, the hair is bound into small loops and fitted directly to the horse’s natural tail, secured with bands and waxed thread or yarn.
I refer to them as “Euro” extensions as they suit horses in full-time, high-care environments. They require consistent maintenance and are best suited to setups where tails can be checked daily. If this level of care isn’t practical, a removable false tail may be a better option, or I can work with you on fitting them short-term for events.
I have been making this style for over 30 years. They are suitable for most horses, however proper care is essential to avoid damage to the natural tail. Tail bags, daily checks, and ongoing maintenance are strongly recommended—just as you would care for your own hair.
